Shohei Ohtani’s streak of consecutive games with a hit came to an end on Sunday, as the Los Angeles Dodgers star went hitless in four at-bats, striking out once and drawing a walk. His batting average for May has plummeted to .129, and the team’s offense has also sputtered, losing three of their last four games.
However, the Dodgers received a major boost: two-time MVP Mookie Betts will return to the lineup on Monday after recovering from a rib fracture. Betts, who hasn’t played since April 10, posted a .368 average and 1.041 OPS in 12 games before the injury.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts acknowledged the team’s recent struggles but expressed optimism: “We’re confident that Mookie’s presence will energize the whole lineup and take some pressure off Shohei.” Ohtani is now in his second season with Los Angeles and remains a key contributor despite the mini-slump.
