Insiders reveal that Softbank had been aggressively pursuing a high-caliber catcher for some time, viewing Yamamoto as a perfect fit for the Hawks’ system. “Yamamoto’s skills and mentality align well with our team’s needs,” a team source said. The 27-year-old backstop is known for his strong arm and leadership behind the plate, qualities Softbank has lacked in recent seasons.
