Hertha Berlin’s exceptional talent Kennet Eichhorn has etched his name into the history books as the youngest goal scorer in 2. Bundesliga history. The midfield jewel of the Berlin side netted the opening goal in the 55th minute during a 2-1 win against SpVgg Greuther Fürth, despite being down to ten men. At 16 years, 9 months, and 13 days old, Eichhorn is 52 days younger than the previous record holder, Gunther Reeg, who set the mark in 1985.
The homegrown Berliner had already become the youngest player ever to appear in the 2. Bundesliga in August, at 16 years and 14 days old. In December, Eichhorn scored his first professional goal in the DFB-Pokal, making him the youngest goal scorer in the competition’s post-World War II history.
As one of Germany’s brightest prospects, Eichhorn has attracted interest from numerous top clubs. Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig are reportedly in a strong position to sign him. According to “Kicker,” FC Bayern’s supervisory board members Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge are opposed to a transfer, contrary to sporting director Max Eberl. A move is considered likely due to a release clause, set between €10 million and €12 million for clubs playing in the Champions League.
The priority for investment in Bayern’s squad remains the backup positions for Harry Kane (32) and Luis Díaz (29). For their desired solution, Anthony Gordon (25), demands of up to €90 million have been mentioned. Consequently, former Bayern bosses Hoeneß and Rummenigge see a talent from the club’s own youth as a successor for departing Leon Goretzka (31). Noel Aseko (20), who returns in the summer from Hannover 96, is reportedly in a good position, as already reported.
