The cricket community is in mourning after former India Under-19 cricketer Amanpreet Singh Gill passed away at the age of 36 in Chandigarh. His sudden death has sparked an outpouring of grief from teammates and officials.

Gill, a medium pacer who shared the U-19 dressing room with Virat Kohli, played six first-class matches for Punjab, claiming 11 wickets. He also featured in five Youth One-Day Internationals and a single Youth Test for India in 2007, where he dismissed former Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera. However, he did not make the final squad for the 2008 U-19 World Cup-winning team led by Kohli.

Punjab Kings echoed the sentiment on Instagram, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Amanpreet Singh Shergill, who proudly represented Punjab and was part of our family. Our condolences to his family, friends, and the cricket fraternity.”
