Rodrigo Mattos stated on the Cartão Vermelho program that Neymar does not have sufficient performance to be among Brazil’s 26 players called up for the World Cup.
“Between Neymar and Endrick, I have no doubt I would take Endrick. Not only because he plays in multiple positions, is a competitive player, and is currently at a high level. Neymar hasn’t shown us that yet, even though he had a better performance in the last game. He is not at the level of this group of 26.”
Mattos added: “Pedro has a chance. It’s not easy, but he might convince coach Carlo Ancelotti. He’s in a final fight to try to get in. As for the others, I think Neymar is unlikely, but maybe it could happen due to combinations.”
“Estêvão’s departure shuffled the chessboard for him. And I don’t know what he will think within that chessboard.”
José Trajano offered a different perspective: “Both can fit. This is possible because Endrick also plays on the right and can shift over there. But this list of 55 doesn’t mean anything in terms of these final doubts. Because you say, ‘Oh, Neymar is on the 55-man list.’ Is he guaranteed for the World Cup? No. Is Endrick? No, he’s not guaranteed.”
