Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes shared his thoughts on the team’s second-round Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche, currently trailing 0-2.
“We can certainly draw on the experience from the previous series,” Hynes said. “We lost two straight games against Dallas, then won three in a row. We had injuries back then, just like now. That series against Dallas gave us a lot of valuable lessons.”
He elaborated on the team’s mindset after falling behind: “How did we respond after losing in double overtime? How did we react after two consecutive setbacks? What conclusions did we draw? What was our approach? I think that mindset and that experience are no different from what we’re facing now.”
The Wild find themselves in a familiar hole, having previously rallied from a 2-0 deficit against the Stars in the first round, winning three straight to advance. Hynes emphasized the importance of leaning on that resilience as they look to even the series.
“That experience taught us a lot about ourselves as a group,” he added. “We know what it takes to bounce back. Now it’s about executing and staying focused.”
