Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen has earned his 54th career victory in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, tying him with Terry Sawchuk for 20th place on the NHL’s all-time list among netminders.
The 36-year-old Danish netminder started Game 4 of the second-round series against the Philadelphia Flyers, a 3-2 overtime win that gave Carolina a 4-0 series sweep. Andersen stopped 15 of 17 shots he faced in the contest.
So far in this postseason, Andersen holds a perfect 8-0 record in eight starts, posting a .950 save percentage and a 1.12 goals-against average. Over his entire NHL playoff career, he now has 54 wins in 93 games, matching Sawchuk’s 54 wins in 106 Stanley Cup appearances.
The 19th spot on the all-time list belongs to Tuukka Rask with 57 wins in 104 games, while 18th is Turk Broda (60 wins in 101 games). The all-time record is held by Patrick Roy with 151 wins in 247 playoff games.
Carolina has advanced to the Eastern Conference Final after outlasting Philadelphia in overtime.
